‘Georgia McBride’ continues its success at Theatre Nova

"This is a clever script and a highly entertaining show with great music, good humor and plenty of sass. It’s reminiscent of both “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” and “The Full Monty.” This expertly acted show was such a hit at the Ringwald in Ferndale that Theatre NOVA brought it to Ann Arbor. Director Brandy Joe Plambeck’s set is genius. Vince Kelley stands out among a very talented cast. Don’t miss this one. -EncoreMichigan.com

IT'S ALL THEATRE
Gender Bender Gives and Gets Big Laughs at Theatre Nova

"“Georgia McBride” is one incredibly funny piece of theatre. It also has all the ingredients that go into making a spectacular show. It begins with the well-plotted and excellently realized script of Matthew Lopez. The script is witty, irreverent, and risqué, and plays extremely well at 100 un-intermissioned minutes. It contains a cast of colorful characters that are always entertaining. There are moments of high-hilarity, which include a sort of mini-cabaret show featuring drag performances by Cher, Judy Garland, and Dolly Parton. Make it a point to go and see “The Legend of Georgia McBride”. It’s fun, it’s fascinating, it’s provocative, and it’s one of the best shows currently playing around town. . -Dan Skora, It's All Theatre

DETROIT LAUGHS LOUDER
‘The Legend of Georgia McBride’ Debut’s at Theater Nova

"This show is wildly entertaining and gets enormous laughs, playwright Matthew Lopez makes that possible with topical humor and larger than life characters. Overall this production is a must-see!  If you love fish out of water tales, drag queens, music and laughter then this is the best $20 ticket in town. Also, this is the first time I have been to Theatre Nova in Ann Arbor (410 W. Huron) but I was super impressed with what this above average black box theatre delivered.  I will definitely be back to check out other productions if ‘The Legend of Georgia McBride’ is the quality shows they put out on a regular basis." -Detroit Laughs Louder

Legendary Georgia McBride

"I was BLOWN AWAY. "The Legend of Georgia McBride" is everything theatre should be in the world we are living in. The story is refreshingly original, yet so universal. You don't go into a show about drag queens in Florida expecting to be able to relate, but anyone who enters the theatre will find something to take away that they can connect with.

The cast was absolutely flawless. Each and every actor took on a challenging role and brought it to life in a special and beautiful way.

Funny, touching, and absolutely astonishing, The Legend of Georgia McBride is a show about finding yourself in the most unexpected of ways. This is a show that inspires and moves the soul."

World Premiere: ‘Georgia McBride’ and the craft of drag at The Ringwald

"The Legend of Georgia McBride by Matthew Lopez is not strictly camp. Yes, there are many laughs. But there also are some very serious and poignant moments that, dare I say, might cause the audience to shed an involuntary tear or two? The one-hour, 40-minute show has no intermission but time doesn’t, shall we say, drag. The pace is spot-on and the time just sails by. You don’t have to be gay or a drag enthusiast to appreciate the sentiments at the heart of this play, where making a living crosses paths with making, or remaking, a life." - Tanya Gazdik, EncoreMichigan.com  READ THE FULL REVIEW
